Come to Our Next Meeting: Nov 12, 2004

Minutes from Our Most Recent Meeting, October 8, 2004:

Tonight's meeting began after watching and commenting on the televised debate between Bush & Kerry, followed by individual introductions. There were happily several new faces at the meeting as well as some familiar ones that ordinarily cannot make the long-commute North to Encinitas where we’ve commonly gathered in the past.

~A discussion of Arlington West followed. Jim Brown was contacted by the BBC who is interested in covering one of our Arlington West events on the last week of October. The tentative date for the next Arlington West was set for 10/23 at Ocean Beach Pier, but this is subject to change and the final date and location will be posted on the website when determined.

~We’ll be participating in a debate at CSU-San Marcos on October 26th. Details about time and place will also be posted on the site when determined. Jim Brown (who has been the primary media spokesperson/ point of contact for our chapter) requested speakers. If you are a member and interested in wearing the shirt and speaking your heart, please come forward! Contact Jim Brown or Jim Summers if you’re available and willing.

~On the eve of Veterans Day (November 10th), there will be a screening of the Arlington West movie in Santa Barbara. That’s a bit of a drive, so a carpool is planned. Contact Jim Summers* if you’re interested in going along.

~There will almost certainly be a Veterans Day Parade in downtown San Diego this November 11th, and we definitely want to be part of it. The firm date and location will also be included on our website homepage as soon as the details are firmed up.

~There was then a discussion about the recent rapid growth of our organization, both local and nationwide. Jim Summers was especially mindful of our organization’s long-term goals and growth, and reminded us that our work is far from done when John Kerry is sworn in, but will in fact just be beginning.

~The next meeting will convene on November 12th, 7:00-9:00 at the same location.
